March Foundation Update

Celebrating Love and Family

Breaking Barriers Valentine's Day

On Saturday, February 12, the CCF’s Breaking Barriers program and their families celebrated Valentine’s Day at St. Joseph Chaldean Catholic Church. More than 170 people attended the party as the group enjoyed time with friends, dancing, and entertainment. These events are often when most of these families can get together and create lifelong friendships and memories.

March is also recognized as National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month. Visit the Chaldean Community Foundation’ social media pages for more information on how to support individuals with developmental disabilities. A Newfound Melody

Bassim Lami and his oud

Basim Lami holding his oud.

Basim Lami is a man with passion and a love for music. He has been performing for over 20 years and was once a music composer in an orchestra. Basim plays his music with an oud, a stringed instrument similar to a violin, as he loves to display his passion and love for life through his melodies and notes. Before arriving in the United States, he served as the Ministry of Youth in Baghdad.

Merging his two passions of music and educating the youth, Basim’s goal after passing his Citizenship exam is to start performing his music and creating a community that merges his Chaldean music with American Music. “When I pass the Citizenship exam, I will be happy to be an American. I want to grow a music group and mix my style of music with American music,” Lami explained.

Basim completed CCF’s ten-week Citizenship Preparation course and is excited for the future ahead. For more information about the CCF’s Citizenship Preparation Course, visit chaldeanfoundation.org.
