The CCF visited Grissom Middle School’s “Keeping it Real” Conference to provide advocacy and additional guidance to minority youth within the school. The conference was designed to help students talk through various topics. Discussions focused on the importance of the students’ mental health, maintaining their own sense of identity, reflecting on their own life experiences, and more.
As a follow-up to the “Keeping it Real” Conference, the CCF also gave participants tickets to a Motor City Cruise basketball game, the affiliate of the Detroit Pistons. The gift was to reward the students for their good behavior, hard work, and dedication in the classroom. The students also received basketballs courtesy of the Detroit Pistons before heading down to the game held at Wayne State University’s Fieldhouse. This trip also served as the students first field trip since the COVID outbreak. Students got the opportunity to enjoy courtside seats and enjoyed a great experience with fellow students and colleagues.
