Sweet Dreams Habibi
Jacquelyn Faranso Santo, the daughter of Catholic-Iraqi immigrants and a first generation American, recently wrote a children’s book titled, “Sweet Dreams Habibi.” The book centers around themes of family, cultural identity and the universal desire to belong.
Inspired by the stories that her mom used to share about her childhood in Iraq and her journey to America, the book recounts a heartwarming story that resonates deeply with immigrant families, offering a relatable and enriching experience for both children and parents. The tale unfolds through a mom’s story to her daughter at bedtime, painting a picture of her simple life back home filled with rich culture and traditions.
Jacquelyn grew up in the Detroit metropolitan area and witnessed her parents’ journey to build a life in the United States. Today, Jacquelyn is a DePaul University graduate, a dedicated wife, and mother of two. She also manages a travel concierge business while passionately pursuing her creative endeavors. The story she shares reflects the cultural mosaic that shaped her upbringing.
“This book is not only a tribute to my family, but also a tribute to the bravery, love and dreams that immigrant families bring with them on their incredible journeys,” shares Jacqueline. “My hope is that this narrative contributes to the empowerment of immigrant families.”
