The Chaldean Community Foundation, in partnership with the Chaldean Heritage Center in West Bloomfield (Shenandoah Country Club), took the initiative to host the second annual Mesopotamian Writers Conference (Beth al-Nahrain) on Saturday, November 11 in the Wireless Vision Gymnasium located in the Chaldean Community Foundation building in Sterling Heights.

Approximately 300 attendees from the Chamber’s member businesses as well as invited dignitaries and elected officials enjoyed the opportunity to network and even ask questions of the mayor at the event at MotorCity Casino’s Sound Board Theater. During the program, Detroit City Councilman Coleman A. Young Jr. presented Chamber president Martin Manna with a Spirit of Detroit Award, acknowledging the Chamber’s 20-year anniversary and thanking the Chaldean community for keeping Detroit in groceries after most businesses fled the city following the 1967 riots.

During the program, the CCF honored Karam Bahnam with the Servant Leadership Award. Karam, one of the founding members of the Eastern Catholic Re-Evangelization Center (ECRC) and REVIV3, is a successful entrepreneur who has dedicated much of his time to helping others deepen their faith.

A graduate of Sacred Heart Major Seminary, Father Narra was ordained through the laying on of hands and the invocation of the Holy Spirit by the Most Rev. Francis Y. Kalabat, Bishop of St. Thomas the Apostle Chaldean Catholic Diocese. Father Narra will serve as parochial vicar at St. George Chaldean Catholic Church in Shelby Township, Michigan.
