MCC Nursing Students Teach Holiday Safety

Nursing students from Macomb Community College.

CCF’s Behavioral Health Team, in collaboration with Macomb Community College nursing students, delivered seasonal safety tips to the community on Wednesday, December 4. Participants came in from the cold for a bit of socializing, some seasonal refreshments, and a side of safety.

Space heaters, fireplaces, and candles sound cozy and offer ambiance during the winter months but improperly used, can be hazardous. Learning proper usage and other ways to keep a safe home while enjoying the holiday season opened a discussion among attendees. MCC’s nursing students also advised those in attendance that vehicles require extra care for winter travel and how to be prepared and mindful of road safety. Conversations about continuing to keep well hydrated and preventing cold temperature-related health problems like frostbite carried over into a discussion about protection during all stages of winter.
