Adventures in Entrepreneurship
The Chaldean Community Foundation hosted the Breakfast of Nations event on May 19. The event featured a panel of immigrant entrepreneurs who talked about the challenges of being an immigrant in the United States.
Panelists Wassem Ayar, Nicole Chen, and Amer Batal shared their unique migration stories, personal childhood anecdotes, and early experiences with entrepreneurship.
The crowd listened as all the panelists shared common threads regarding the challenges that they faced as entrepreneurs, including mispronouncing and misspelling names. They spoke about difficulties and challenges faced along their path to success and having to modify their names and their methods of doing business around those in the western world.
The event was a collaborative effort by Sterling Heights Chamber of Commerce, Global Detroit, Vibe Credit Union, Macomb Intermediate School District, and One Macomb.
