Locks of Love
For Desiree Hannosh, donating her hair was something she wanted to do to help her community. She was inspired to do so when she saw a classmate in a cancer battle who lost their hair during treatment.
Hannosh shared with her CCF social worker that she always wanted to donate her hair to help someone. In searching for a way to make Desiree’s dream a reality, they found Maggie’s Wigs 4 Kids of Michigan. The two also learned that insurance does not cover the cost of wigs for children in Michigan.
With the support of her social worker and a Supercuts stylist, 10 inches of Desiree’s hair were cut in the CCF’s Supercuts barber shop. The hair that was collected will be used to create a wig for an individual diagnosed with cancer.
A high school senior this year, Hannosh has plans to pursue higher education with a career goal of becoming a registered nurse.
