The Chaldean Community Foundation was selected to receive the Macomb County Habitat for Humanity Shining Light Award at their annual gala on Friday, November 10 as a result of excellent advocacy for a family of six from the Republic of the Congo.

Patrick N’Golo was granted asylum in December of 2018, arriving in the U.S. from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Taking all the proper steps to bring his family to the U.S. with help from Macomb County Habitat for Humanity, Patrick had temporary housing but little else.

CCF was able to assist Patrick with his green card and social security cards for his family and helped with approval for Medicaid, food assistance and back rent. Five agencies, including PNC, the Department of Health & Human Services-Warren office, and the U.S. Department of Justice collaborated with the CCF to resolve issues for the N’Golo family.

“Tonight will be the first time we can relax a little and maybe sleep,” shared Patrick after his first CCF visit.
