Youth Baker Genevieve Kashat Returns to the Food Network
Now 12-years-old, Genevieve Kashat, featured on the cover of the March 2023 issue, has returned to the Food Network’s “Kids Baking Championship” for their Halloween baking special.
Fittingly titled “Bloodcurdling Bakes,” four contestants returned to claim title of “Baking Champ” along with a $10,000 prize package, packed with baking implements. “She had her eyes on that blast chiller & stand mixer from the get-go,” said her mother, Evon Kashat.
The special aired on September 25th, and Genevieve’s version of a fault line cake won over the tastebuds of Food Network hosts Duff Goldman and Sam Seneviratne.
No stranger to the obstacles of a reality baking show, Genevieve said it was a challenge, and she tried to balance her creativity with the time and recipe constraints of the show, especially the renowned mid-show baking twist Food Network is famous for.
“I’m really happy with the group I was against,” she said of the Halloween special. “We were competing, but we are all such great friends. It wasn’t like we were angry when someone else won.”
While Genevieve said there aren’t currently any plans for her to return to “Kids Baking Championship,” she would be eager to go back if given the opportunity. In the meantime, she wants to keep on baking and encouraging others to try it out on their own.
“I’d love it if I got another chance to be on the show again,” she said. “Never stop, even if you fail the first time. You will always have another chance to try it again.”
